Raimi can still scare the pants of you, whilst making you smile
Saw Drag Me To Hull last night, a lovely and coo, fully air conditioned cinema.

The movie is classic Raimi, who is famous for his Evil Dead and Spiderman movies. It's horror, but Raimi knows that jumping out of your seat is meant to be fun, and paces the action accordingly, mixing in frenetic action, high speed close-ups and genuine 'Oh my goodness' moments, going for both the gross-out and the bone-chill without ever going for melodrama.

Fun, and worth watching, if horror movies are your sort of thing.

I loved it.

set out the rules right at the start...no-one was safe

then mixed in gloriously gooey work with amazing sound editing so anything appeared scary

And didn't rely on tricks we'd seen all to often recently ( used an older bag of tricks..but ones that suprised still)..no figures walking in front of camera unseen, no.build up...fake scare..let down ..NOW REAL SCARE!....

I really enjoyed being uncertain of the scares...being made to feel uncomfortable and what an amazingly awkward meet the parents seen...

great fun...but still scary

genuine 'Oh my goodness' moments

I'm pretty certain I've never said or thought that during a film.

Nor yet "jeepers" "lorks" or "man alive". Clearly I have a truncated lexicon.

Drag me to Hull? Now that IS scary...

I quote from a lovely old folksong: "So hear my litany, from Hull and Halifax and Hell, the Lord deliver me".
